2014 Academy Awards Winners Announced

Lost-in-space drama “Gravity” won the Academy Award on Sunday for transporting moviegoers into the stratosphere, earning the Oscar for visual effects.
The box office hit starring Sandra Bullock headed into the 86th Academy Awards with 10 nominations, and this was their first of the evening. Another blockbuster, “Frozen,” which just passed $1 billion worldwide in box office receipts, won for animated feature film.
CBut “Dallas Buyers Club” has won the most trophies — two.
Jared Leto, who has won the lion’s share of honors this season for supporting actor, received his first Oscar for hiss stunning performance as a transgender ravaged by AIDS. He delivered a moving — and political — acceptance speech in which he thanked his mother “for teaching me to dream.” From there, the acceptance speech turned political, aimed at those struggling in Ukraine and Venezuela: “To all the dreamers around the world watching this tonight ... we are here, and as you struggle to make your dreams happen, to live the impossible, we are thinking of you tonight.” Leto, who has received the lion’s share of awards this season, also honored the millions who have died of AIDS and those in the transgender community.
